This is the view out my front door in Newport Vermont – or was two weeks ago. the church which you can see best in the center photo is The St. Mary’s Star of The Sea Catholic Church and the currant building was built around. You can read more about it here http://www.faithstreet.com/church/mater-dei-derby-line-vt
In the past week or so though Autumn has arrived here and Mother Nature seems to be trying to out do herself with Her glorious displays of yellows, oranges, reds, and gold and though I would have thought it impossible the view is even more breathtaking now. Even if you can’t tell it by the photos
Newport is also home to Th Goodrich Memorial Library http://www.cityprofile.com/vermont/goodrich-memorial-library.htmlwhich has its own unique history as well as many other beautiful and historic buildings.http://newportvermont.org/
Vermont is so full of history and beauty that a person could spend an entire year here just trying to take it all in and still only have been able to do justice to a small part. Here in Orleans County which sits right on the Canadian border is the small community of Derby Line – home of The Haskell Free Library and Opera House which straddles the border http://www.cityprofile.com/vermont/haskell-free-library-and-opera-house.html In fact you can stand on Caswell Street in the US and Church Street in Canada at the same time.
There’s something for everyone is this small corner of the state and well worth planning a vacation to see and if I’mm in town I’d love to show you around.
OK I’m through sounding like a travel agent so I’ll just show you a few more scenes and sites of this part of The Goddesses Gift. These are not mine just in case you are wondering.
